Physical Rehabilitation Therapy
Just Corgislike people, animals may need therapy after orthopedic surgery, or may suffer from proprioceptive (awareness of limbs and placement) disorders, adhesions, decreased range of motion, paralysis, and osteo-arthritis. With the aid of your veterinarian, we can devise an outpatient program specific to your pet’s needs.

Acupuncture
Acupuncture Bunny Acupunctureis a 5000+ year old tradition of Chinese medicine. Acupuncture involves insertion of fine needles into specific points on the body to bring about physiological responses to relieve pain and/or treat dis-ease.

Chiropractic
The trained chiropractor can manipulate physical structure to help realign bones and joints. Gait analysis is integral to chiropractic treatment plans.

Hydrotherapy / Water Therapy / Swim Therapy
Hydrotherapy is the centerpiece of ARC’s rehabilitation program. Incorporating the newest technology of the underwater treadmill, it is the easiest way for the body to build strength in joints and muscles. The water creates buoyancy, reducing the weight bearing to a minimum. We use this treatment to improve strength, range of motion and build stamina. An ozonator is used to purify the water, lessening the amount of chemicals needed to maintain proper pH and ensure proper sanitation.

Stretching, Flexibility Exercises and Theraball Work
Before we begin any workout, we stretch and warm-up the animal’s body. This aids in increasing range of motion, relaxation of muscles, and reduction of pain and inflammation from spasming muscles, post- injury/surgery, and/or arthritis. We show many of the exercises to owners so they are able to continue the therapy at home, between sessions.

Pulsed Signal Therapy
PST Pulsed Signal Therapyis used to direct a signal through a low level electromagnetic field to injured tissue to tell the body to repair or replace the damaged cells. This is great for pets with arthritis, hip dysplasia, and degenerative joint disease. PST is a non-invasive, possible alternative to non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs). This treatment is administered as a series of nine daily treatments.

Cold Laser Therapy
ColdCold Laser Therapy laser therapy is used to treat deep tissue at the cellular level by causing cells to produce certain enzymes, and manufacture protein substances. Cold Laser Therapy is used to increase the healing rate of wounds, reduce swelling or edema, break down bruises and blood clots, and reduce pain. Cold Laser Therapy is also used on acupuncture points.

Recreational Swimming
ARC Gwen Surfingalso has an above ground pool with counter-flow jets. This is a completely non weight-bearing exercise that allows the animal to have full flexion, increase stamina, endurance, and proprioception (awareness of limbs and placement).
